Who we are
Lutheran CORE – Northwestern Minnesota is a member organization
of the national Lutheran CORE (Lutheran Coalition for Renewal)
organization.
Lutheran CORE envisions itself as a “free-standing synod” of
laypeople and pastors, both for those who remain in the
Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), at least for the time being, and
those who have left or will eventually leave to join other Lutheran
entities. More information about the national Lutheran CORE
organization can be found at www.lutherancore.org.
We are united in our desire to be a voice for traditional Lutheran
teaching and practice. Members of Lutheran CORE affirm the
Common
Confession (after reading, email them to officially join), which
addresses the areas of theological concern that have arisen in the
ELCA.
The goals of Lutheran CORE – Northwestern Minnesota are:
- To serve as a local presence of Lutheran CORE in northwestern Minnesota
- To make congregations and individual ELCA members aware of the theological crisis within the ELCA
- To help congregations and individual ELCA members be aware of alternatives to the ELCA
- To provide a “safe haven” for reflection and fellowship for those who affirm the Common Confession and choose to remain in the ELCA
- To facilitate connection between faithful Lutherans who remain in the ELCA and those who leave
